Collegian T&A Interview with Scott Little Crow
Author of Voices of the Earth
Collegian Travel & Adventure Magazine
Fall/Winter 2004

Thank you for sitting down and talking to us Scott. I know that you just got back from a 13 month trip around the world and that you are settling back into your home in Hawai'i.

CT&A: Tell me about Voices of the Earth.
Scott Little Crow: It tells a story of self empowerment. It is a shamanic book that works on levels beneath our ordinary conscious awareness by reinforcing positive patterns of self empowerment in the reader.

CT&A: What exactly does that mean?
SLC: We all have dreams that we hold quietly inside ourselves, hidden from the world; dreams that for one reason or another we do not pursue, dreams that we slowly relinquish as we grow older. Voices of the Earth empowers the reader to actualize those unique, personal dreams and to release the fears and contradictory impulses that work against our own self-interest.

CT&A: How does the book empower people to achieve their dreams?
SLC: It empowers people by pointing them back into themselves, by encouraging them to trust in themselves, to trust their reasons for being in the world, to trust the validity of their dreams and to have the courage to follow through in pursuit of those dreams. Most people fail to materialize their dreams because they don't believe in themselves enough to invest the necessary time, energy and money in pursuit of their own vision. Instead, we allow our fears of inadequacy to determine the course of our lives and we end up following the visions of others and becoming a tool in fulfilling their ends. Another common obstacle people face is lack of clearly focused intent. We are constantly sending out mixed signals and the net result is zero or even worse, a lot of incomplete projects waiting to be done later. I frequently write and edit a list of intentions in order to become more clear and consistent in my dreams.

CT&A: How long did it take you to write Voices?
SLC: In total, 8 years. The creation of Voices of the Earth has been a remarkably non-linear process and it is only in late 2002 that I began thinking seriously about writing a book. It would be most accurate to say that Voices of the Earth has evolved of its own volition. I like to think that it wrote itself in my journals through an ongoing series of experiences which at first seemed so outside the realm of normality to me that I had to write them down just to try to make sense of what was going on. It is still an evolving process. I just made a new journal entry earlier today.

CT&A: What kind of reception have you had so far?
SLC: Fantastic! Everybody loves it. Even my Mom digs it and she is hardly what you would call an alternative thinking woman.

CT&A: How do you relate with people who do not believe in your work, people who are put off by intuitive knowledge?
SLC: To me what is important is that the information works. It has practical value in helping people and it has helped me greatly in my life. I couldn't care less if you think I made it all up as long as you are empowered by reading it.
