Travel the Affordable, Easy Way! Hostelling International
Collegian Travel & Adventure Magazine
Spring/Summer 2003

If you're thinking about traveling this year you should checkout Hostelling International (HI), the world's largest budget travel network. With over 4,000 hostels in more than 60 countries, you're likely to find an HI hostel almost anywhere you go. Spend a night in an 18th century Scottish mansion, a French villa, a medieval German castle, a Swiss mountain chalet, an Australian beach resort or a modern purpose build facility in London. They're all part of the HI network.

All you need to access this extensive hostel network is the HI membership card. You'll join 4 million members around the globe who save on every trip. The HI "blue triangle" is recognized internationally for safe, friendly and affordable accommodations and travel services.

The friendly community atmosphere of hostels means there's no better place to meet fellow travelers from around the world. Most hostels feature shared dorm style accommodations, comfortable lounges, dining areas and do-it-yourself kitchens or inexpensive cafeterias, storage and laundry facilities.

In addition to great rates at hostels worldwide, HI members also get special discounts at restaurants, museums, attractions, tours, currency exchange and transportation. Many hostels offer activities, special programs, tourism information and direct discount bookings on local tours.

HI is also a terrific source for general travel information and trip preparation. Their Web site provides information on passports, visas, vaccinations, currency exchange, health, safety and money-saving travel discounts and local HI-USA regional offices offer workshops on smart travel at home and abroad throughout the year. These regional offices offer a variety of ways to become involved in all kinds of outdoor, educational or cultural activities, while also staying in touch with fellow travelers.

New for 2003, HI-USA members (except Youth and Group categories) receive basic international travel insurance as a membership benefit. This is valid for the entire year term of the membership card, with more comprehensive coverage options available to members at special rates.

You don't have to go far to discover hostelling! If you're traveling in the U.S., you'll find over 110 HI hostels across the country in great locations at great prices.

To get a membership or find out more about the organization visit www.hiusa.org or call (301) 495-1240
