Be A River Guide!

If you've ever had the desire to collect the skill it takes to be a river guide... Here's Your Opportunity

From within and on the perimeter of the River of No Return Wilderness, you’ll gain guide skills on two renowned rivers, the South Fork of the Payette and the Middle Fork of the Salmon. From their Payette basecamp, Far and Away Adventures will train you in the basic maneuvers and commands, then with checklists in hand; they will assemble all the necessary equipment for a wilderness expedition, board backcountry aircraft and fly into the Middle Fork of the Salmon River canyon.

Raft navigation will be hands on. Gather fundamentals in captaining a paddleboat, oar boat, and inflatable kayak. You will command your raft while being coached by experienced lead guides who will share with you the secrets of reading whitewater, menu planning, and the ins and outs of a wilderness kitchen. Train and perform river rescue techniques, rig zip lines, right flipped boats and throw rescue ropes with precision. Learning something new has never been more fun and the program is excellent preparation for becoming a professional river guide or rafting on one’s own.

The course includes all transportation to and from Boise, Idaho, all meals and backcountry air transfers.

When the Snow Melts...
Every ski town is sad to see winter pass. Luckily, when the snow melts in Jackson Hole, it reveals rivers to be rafted, singletracks to be biked and trails to be hiked. Jackson Hole is a summer paradise.

The Snake River winds through Jackson Hole on its way to the Pacific Ocean. Class III rapids are available to thrill seekers and scenic floats are available to sightseers. Moose, elk, otter and coyote are frequent sightings along the river.

Mountain biking and hiking are also popular past times in Jackson Hole. The hiking in Grand Teton National Park is beautiful and the aerial tram in Teton Village runs during the summer, providing access to beautiful alpine terrain and awe-inspiring mountain views. The numerous mountain biking trails range from beginner to you’d have to be crazy to ride down this hill, and there are plenty of shops to rent and repair bikes.

This is in addition to camping, road biking, rock climbing, golfing, horseback riding and world-class fishing. Jackson Hole is an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise. At night, there is a very active nightlife and many lodging options. For more information on specials, lodging or activities and discounted, air-inclusive packages, call Jackson Hole Central Reservations at (800) 749-4080 or visit www.jacksonholewy.com.
